One of our favorite local non-profits to work with is Tree Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a healthier and more resilient urban forest in the city of Pittsburgh. Learn about how we partner with them and their many programs, resources, and volunteer opportunities.
love, Pittsburgh x Tree Pittsburgh
As part of our dedication to being Champions of Sustainability, we have our ongoing Decline-a-Bag program where we donate 50 cents each time a customer spends over $10 and declines a bag. Thanks to all of yinz, we have been able to donate the equivalent of planting 10+ trees!
We also carry a couple sets of their beautiful cards! Support their mission the next time you are writing to a loved one.
Volunteer
There are several ways to volunteer! You can spend time on their campus at their Heritage Nursery, their wholesale nursery specializing in native plants grown from seed for forest restoration.
Are you hoping to bring trees to your own neighborhood? Maximize your volunteer experience by taking courses to become a Tree Tender. As a Tree Tender, you are able to host your own community care events.
Resources
Whether you are looking for basic tree care advise, how to add street trees to your neighborhood, or programs for youth, they have it all when it comes to all things tree in Pittsburgh.
Bonus tip: If you are among the neighborhoods affected by the invasive spotted lanternfly, Tree Pittsburgh provides one of the simplest and easy-to-read instructions on how to identify and what to do.
We hope you find ways to get involved or donate to one of Pittsburgh's impactful environmental non-profits.
