Top 6 Things to Do in Pittsburgh While You're in Town for the NFL Draft

The 2026 NFL Draft is bringing football fans from across the country to the Steel City, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you. While you’re in town cheering on your team and watching the next generation of stars get drafted, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore what makes Pittsburgh such a special place.

Here are six local experiences outside of NFL Draft events that will help you see the city like a Pittsburgher.

1. Ride the Historic Monongahela Incline or Duquesne Incline for the Best View of the City

No first trip to Pittsburgh is complete without riding one of the city's historic incline rides. If you want one of the best photos of Pittsburgh, this is where to take it.

Both the Duquesne Incline and Monongahela Incline carry passengers up Mount Washington, where you’ll find one of the most famous skyline views in America. From the observation decks at the top, you can see the rivers, bridges, and stadiums that define Pittsburgh’s landscape.

If you ride the Monongahela Incline, you’ll arrive at the top of Mount Washington along charming Shiloh Street, where you’ll find local restaurants, scenic overlooks, and our love, Pittsburgh Shop (301 Shiloh Street), a great spot to browse locally-made Pittsburgh gifts. At the bottom of the incline, you can easily stroll through Station Square and continue walking into downtown Pittsburgh.

If you choose the Duquesne Incline, you’ll also enjoy spectacular views from Mount Washington, along with several restaurants overlooking the skyline. The lower station is located along the riverfront trail, making it a peaceful starting point for a walk along the water; however, there are no businesses at the bottom without walking into town.

2. Explore the Food and Shops of the Strip District

The Strip District is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Pittsburgh and a must-visit for anyone in town for the weekend.

Once a historic produce market district, today it’s packed with international grocers, bakeries, coffee shops, and small businesses. You’ll find everything from fresh pasta and pierogies to specialty foods and handmade gifts.

You can find your local souvenir and support our Pittsburgh makers by shopping at our Strip District location (1728 Penn Ave.) while you're down there.

3. Discover Pittsburgh History at the Heinz History Center

While you're in the Strip District, step inside the Heinz History Center to learn how Pittsburgh became the city it is today.

As the largest history museum in Pennsylvania, the museum covers everything from sports history and innovation to the story of Heinz and Pittsburgh’s industrial past.

It’s a fascinating stop for visitors who want to understand the culture and legacy behind the Steel City.

4. Visit the North Side and the Andy Warhol Museum

Across the river on Pittsburgh’s North Side, you’ll find one of the most unique museums in the country.

The Andy Warhol Museum celebrates the life and work of Andy Warhol, a Pittsburgh native who became one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Even if you’re not a big art person, it’s a truly memorable Pittsburgh experience. Plus, local tip: stop by Randyland in the North Side while you're over there! It's a free, colorful wonderland and you won't want to miss.

5. Walk the Riverfront Trail and Point State Park

Pittsburgh’s three rivers—the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio—are central to the city’s identity. One of the best ways to experience them is by walking along the riverfront trails.

Paths along the North Shore and Downtown offer incredible views of the skyline, bridges, and stadiums. Point State Park is a great area to sit in the grass or along the fountain and see where the three rivers meet. It’s an easy and relaxing way to see the city between events during your draft weekend.

6. Take Home a Piece of Pittsburgh from love, Pittsburgh Shop

If you’re looking for a unique Pittsburgh treasure, skip the typical souvenir shops and visit love, Pittsburgh Shop.

The store features products made by 100+ local artists and makers from the region. Everything from candles and art prints to apparel and home goods is inspired by the city.
