Happy Earth Day! We are trying our best to find a sliver of good news amidst the COVID-19 chaos. Turns out, all of us staying at home is giving our planet some much needed TLC (tender, love and care). As part of this Earth Day and month, we thought you’d like to hear some new updates about how love, Pittsburgh continues to be champions of sustainability.
Downtown Location Earns Gold!
Hopefully by now you’ve heard about our Gold earning from Sustainable Pittsburgh for our Mt. Washington location (if not, catch up here). And in February our Downtown location has also earned a gold certificate! Woo! We've continued our efforts to reuse, upcycle, recycle all operations supplies and continue to find innovative ways to go green.
Tree Pittsburgh
We’ve also continued our decline-a-bag program with local non-profit, Tree Pittsburgh, at both locations. So far, we’ve donated enough for 7 new baby trees to be planted around Pittsburgh. This is equivalent to 700 of yinz declining a bag when you come in-store to shop with us! Keep it up! We are helping to keep our city streets and parks full of greenery.
Care for Our Environment
With all of us having some extra time on our hands, how are you being mindful and giving some TLC to our sweet Earth? We hope you are spending some time to soak up Vitamin D (when the sun makes a rare appearance) and appreciate all that the Earth does for us.
Within our team, many of us are finding ways to step up our own green practices at home. Kelly has donated fabric to PGH Mask Makers, Monica has started seeds, and I have planted my first round of lettuce.
As you find more time on your hands, we hope you are also creatively thinking of new little ways to care for our planet.
