Every Pittsburgher knows the festive atmosphere and hub-bub of the holidays can be best felt at the Holiday Market in Market Square. We are proud to be regulars at the annual People's Gas Holiday Market and are passing along the insider info for this year and our best tips to make the most of your Downtown holiday adventure!
Hours and when to visit
The Holiday Market is open beginning Friday November 17 through December 24th from 11 - 8 Mon-Thurs, 11 - 9:30 Fri-Sat, and 11 - 6 Sunday.
Tip: If you like to dodge a crowd and have a chance to find a parking spot near by, visit during the day on a weekday.
Light up Night
On Saturday November 18th, the lighting of the Christmas Tree in PPG Plaza is just one of the many dazzling events brightening Pittsburgh! Learn about the performances, fireworks, and more here.
Tip: Get to town in the afternoon to get the best parking, garages will fill up in the evening!
The Holiday Market Vendors
There are over 30 different vendors from around the world who participate in the Holiday Market from the Himalayas, Bali, Europe and more.
Tip: Several vendors rotate throughout the season, so be sure to visit the market more than once to not miss the perfect gift.
Food and Drinks
Mulled wine will be available for purchase as well as Christmas Ale from Sly Fox Brewing for the first time. Great to pair with other festive holiday treats like roasted nuts (bonus tip: they love to give samples!).
Tip: Restaurants book up in advance, it is best to get reservations. We recommend Cafe Momentum, Emerson's, and Con Alma as our favorite spots!
Santa
If visiting Santa is in your plan, this year he will be located at the Heinz Hall Courtyard starting on Black Friday
Tip: Walk straight down Market Street past the Fairmont that leads straight onto 6th Street to find your way there (and back) to Market Square.
Merry Karaoke
Love to belt out your favorite carols? Do it for an audience in the annual Merry Karaoke competition!
Tip: This Light-Up-Night event makes everyone a winner, where participants can draw for a restaurant gift cards ranging from $10 to $500 in value!
Holiday Windows
View artist-made holiday windows while finding the best local boutiques in downtown in the Holiday Window Contest.
Tip: Vote for your favorites for to support a charity. We are proud to support Hello Neighbor with our Downtown store window decorated by artist and team member, Sam Kibbe!
