New retail store now open in Downtown Pittsburgh from love, Pittsburgh
Women behind Mount Washington store opened second location this spring featuring all Pittsburgh makers and artisans
Downtown Pittsburgh - love, Pittsburgh, a shop carrying collections of gifts and seasonal items sourced entirely from Pittsburgh artists and makers, is expanding its operations with a new location opening in Downtown Pittsburgh this spring. Founded by Kelly Sanders and Monica Yope in 2017, love, Pittsburgh’s mission is to support artists, makers, and small businesses from the Pittsburgh region. In doing so, they’ve curated a collection of original handcrafted goods entirely from local sources.
love, Pittsburgh’s second store is located at 805 Liberty Avenue in the Cultural District. The Downtown shop will carry many of the same handmade gifts, stationery, home goods, t-shirts, tasteful Pittsburgh-themed gifts, seasonal items, and jewelry that are found in their Mount Washington location. Additionally, Sanders and Yope plan to use the Downtown location to expand their fine art offerings and test new products with a wider audience.
“We are thrilled to be expanding into the vibrant and diverse community of Downtown Pittsburgh. We couldn’t be happier to bring the artists and makers we carry into the heart of the city,” said Yope, love, Pittsburgh owner.
Sanders and Yope, both Pittsburgh-born makers themselves, have always been blown away by the abundance of talented artists and makers in Pittsburgh. This was the inspiration for their first store located at 301 Shiloh Street in Mount Washington, which will remain open. They view this expansion as a growth opportunity for their business and each of their vendors.
“We have been 100% Pittsburgh from the start, our motto is ‘Keep it all in the family,’ our Pittsburgh family,” said Sanders, love, Pittsburgh owner. “We are excited to be able to support our artists and makers by placing more orders and increasing their business.”
The Downtown shop will connect more makers to shoppers by serving the Downtown Pittsburgh business and residential communities in addition to the millions who visit each year.
“love, Pittsburgh is the perfect match for Downtown Pittsburgh and will complement our existing array of local and independent boutiques and retailers,” said Brian Kurtz, Director of Economic Development with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “This addition is a natural continuation of the success we’ve seen in recent years with Pittsburgh brands finding success in Downtown. We thank Kelly and Monica for choosing to invest in Downtown Pittsburgh and look forward to welcoming them to the neighborhood in May.”
The Liberty Avenue store’s grand opening is on May 4th at 11:30 am and will be open daily from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm, except Tuesdays when it will be closed.
“We are so fortunate to welcome love, Pittsburgh into the Cultural District and support their mission of connecting Pittsburgh’s local artists to the community,” said Brooks Robinson, Real Estate Consultant, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
