Few makers are as well known as Wendell August Forge in the Pittsburgh area. We have many passed-down ornaments from them in our family, as I am sure many other Pittsburghers do! Learn more about their iconic brand below.

Wendell August Forge handcrafts gifts using techniques that are thousands of years old. Using hand and hammer, the outcome of each piece is never the same making each gift beautifully unique. Plus, we're made in America. Today more than ever that matters. From Christmas ornaments to wedding gifts, each purchase is helping sustain jobs.

our story

Wendell August created the business back in 1923. At first, the company crafted decorative gates, railings and other architectural embellishments. It wasn't until the Pittsburgh aluminum company Alcoa asked us to create a serving tray that was inspired by elevator doors the Forge had recently made for them that we got into the giftware business. Today we still handcraft serving trays, along with Christmas ornaments, barware and really anything we come up with that we think could be the perfect gift.

What one product do our customers need to know about and why?

Our Pittsburgh Map Tray and Coasters are a few of our favorite pieces that celebrate our favorite city. The Golden Triangle is so iconic and if you're from Pittsburgh, you have to have a map featuring your hometown somewhere. They make the perfect addition to any yinzer coffee table.

In three words, why do you love Pittsburgh?
