Tell us about your brand and why it’s the best:
Tupelo Honey Teas puts quality over profit. We source teas and herbs from a long list of suppliers because we have found that everyone does different things best. We try to source teas that are organically grown and/or support communities. Most of our 70+ teas are in house blends. We enjoy the creation of the tea, label, name, etc. We use whole organic herbs along with teas to create blends that are both good for you AND taste good. Occasionally we taste teas that we love that are blends others have made. In that case we are very transparent on our website or if you ask us about who blends the tea. It is important to give credit to the maker and also for our clientele to know where our products come from.
What is your background and the story behind why you started creating?
Tupelo Honey Teas was a long time brain child. Started with a great cup of tea in the back of the Jade Buddhist Temple in Shanghai China in January of 2002. From there it grew into doodles at work and ideas about how to create a business. Danielle was always a tea drinker, never a coffee drinker so she started blending herbs and teas together for flavor and purpose. Tupelo Honey Teas was officially created in 2007. Through her first wholesale account she grew the business by word of mouth. After a stint at the Pittsburgh Public Market, and three years in Allison Park, Tupelo Honey Teas finally settled into Danielle's hometown of Millvale and added a vegan cafe.
