Tell us about your brand and why it’s the best:

I & I Coffee Is my brand, My coffee is outstanding because I treat it like food and roast/sell only fresh coffee beans, most coffee beans out there aren’t treated this way and there’s no way to know how long ago they were roasted.

What is your background and the story behind why you started creating?

36 Years old from Pittsburgh, chef by trade, currently the Sous Chef at Poulet Blue in Lawrenceville. Worked for Thomas Keller in Las Vegas and Napa Valley at Bouchon. Around the time the pandemic hit I was working on trying to create a better way of life for myself, you see my wife is a school teacher with Pittsburgh Public and anyone who’s ever been in the hospitality industry knows a chefs hours are horrendous, so I wanted to be able to spend time with her, hopefully have some children, thus came I & I Coffee Co. I created this company for my family, but could not have done it without a friend and fellow roaster named Aaron under the brand Elmo Fried, I’ve been drinking his coffee exclusively for a over a decade and it is hands down the best, and it’s not that complicated, it’s just fresh good quality coffee beans treated with respect for flavor and origin. So I give a nod to him for his education, training and friendship over the years. The I & I name has roots in Ethiopia and the Rastafarian culture and is the encompassing you, me and the higher consciousness, showing we are all equal. This is coffee for the people, grown by people who work very hard to give us this gift, respect.

What one product do we need to know about and why?

Irie Espresso-“Irie” meaning no worries, you shouldn’t have any with this blend. Five individually roasted different origins go into this blend, Brazil Cerrado, Indian Monsoon Malabar, Honduras, Colombian Supremo, and Ethiopian Sidamo Guji. This blend is designed to give a outstanding shot of espresso, smooth, creamy, not bitter, delicious. Would also brew nicely as a French press or drip as well.

In three words, why do you love Pittsburgh?

 Steelers, Penguins, Pirates

(this was tough to answer after the wildcard loss to the Browns but still, I love our sports teams)
