What's your story?
My paintings transform the everyday into the extraordinary. As a native of Pittsburgh I find beauty in the everyday scenes of the city: the hillsides crammed with houses and the obscure back alleyways. I want to capture the soul of the city in my paintings.
I grew up in McCandless and have been painting since highschool. I continued to study painting at Penn State, and then left PA for graduate school and spent 8 years on the west coast. When I came back to Pittsburgh in 2016 I was so overwhelmed by the feeling of coming home that I needed to explore the city all over again by painting it. The cityscapes featured at Love, Pittsburgh are part of my wider art practice which also includes vibrant, dreamlike figurative paintings and commission work.
I live and work in Lawrenceville (I'm super lucky, my commute to my studio is maybe 2 blocks...!)
What product do we NEED to know and why?
The Painted City postcard packs are a great introduction to my work, and a fun way to introduce friends and family to Pittsburgh. You essentially get 6 different small prints of Pittsburgh paintings for just $12!
In three words, why do you love Pittsburgh?
Because it's home.
