Hot Summer, Cool Vibes: Guide to Pittsburgh's Top Water Features

The heat of summer in the burgh has us craving ways to keep cool.  With a plethora of fountains, pools, and lakes to choose from, we've rounded up the best places to play in the water in Pittsburgh.

Fountain at The Point

An iconic feature at the confluence of Pittsburgh's three rivers, the water vibes are strong at the fountain at the point. While you can't take a dip in it, you don't even need to as the fountains spray is even more refreshing. It's a great spot to people watch along the shore and in boats.

PPG Plaza

This timed fountain is a fun reprieve from the seriousness of the skyscrapers that surround it. Admired by kids and dogs alike, the dancing waters are always ready to welcome new partners.

South Side Works Misters

After an afternoon bike ride on the GAP riverfront trail, or spirited shopping in the South side works, indulge in the gentle misters found just down the stairs next to Hofbraughaus in the Southshore Riverfront Park

North Shore Water Steps

The water steps on the North shore are a splash friendly destination along the north side riverfront trail. Bonus points for the city skyline views while you refresh.

Tub Club

Take your cool to the next level with Pittsburghs only ice plunge at the Tub Club on the North side. Packed with health benefits, try a plunge when you're feeling stressed, tired, or of course, hot.

North Park

Better for floating on than swimming in, the lake at North Park has rentals of kayaks and paddle boards. If you're set on wading in try the access point at the Spillover lot.

Station Square Bessemer Court

Choreographed streams dance to music at the waterfront  Bessemer Court in Station Square.  Get a little or a lot wet, best timed after a lunch at one of the stations beloved restaurants.

For the kiddos, the waterplay permanent exhibit at the children's museum is a true playground with functional water features that delight curious minds. Come ready for fun and with a dry change of clothes. Or stop by their gift shop where you'll find a few featured love, Pittsburgh tees and onesies.
