Free Summer Dates

Free Summer Dates

Some of the best dates I can remember come at no cost. Summertime in Pittsburgh is full of free events, and we love making memories without breaking the bank. Take your best friend, partner, or family to these exciting events around the ‘burgh for a bit of carefree fun!

Movies in the Park

City of Pittsburgh hosts free movie nights at several local parks around the city. Most of the showings are family friendly--perfect for families with kids! Whether you go with your family, friends, a date, or furry friends, these movie nights are cozy and full of fun. Don't forget to pack up your blanket, snacks, and a light sweater! Learn more here.

Moraine State Park

Moraine State Park is loved by many locals. If you're willing to drive about 45 minutes north, the lake has lots of water activities, trails, and grass areas to set up a picnic! Grab a group of friends, bring games, food, drinks, and enjoy a summer day by this beautiful lake. From August 5-7, the park is hosting their annual free Regatta! Enjoy vendors, music, and outdoor activities all weekend. Learn more here.

Summer Concert Series

Allegheny County hosts a free summer concert series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater and South Park Amphitheater. The parks have food trucks and drink options available on-site, but you could veto the trucks and bring a small cooler full of your own snacks and drinks! Grab a buddy, a folding chair, and spend the evening full of good music. Learn more here.

The Backyard

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust hosts a series of free music and activities in the Backyard (8th and Penn Ave). The Backyard is the Cultural Trust's new summer arts park. On several nights of the week, you can enjoy free music, free yoga or barre classes, art exhibitions, and lawn games. The Backyard is open until Sept. 25th 11am - 9pm. Learn more here.
