Summer is my absolute favorite season, so it is always hard to watch the end come! While everyone else seems to easily slip into fall leaves and coziness, I'd much rather stay in a sunshine-filled hammock or paddle on a lake! If you're anything like me, I'm here to share a list of ways to send summer out with a bang, right in our backyard of the Strip District!
Picnic Party
Outdoor seating at picnic tables under umbrellas screams summer. Pair it with live music and you have the perfect combination for summery celebration. Our neighbors, 1700 Penn Ave, offers all of the above, plus tasty beverages at their walk-up outdoor bar.
Ocean-sourced Savors
Indulging in the fruits of the ocean is best done in the summer. Pop into Wholey's and get their famous Lobster Roll, and I recommend their homemade chips to pair it with! If you're more of a DIY chef, you can't go wrong with taking home a pound of mussels from our local fish monger.
I scream for Ice Cream (Sandwiches)
This summer I may have set a record for how much ice cream I've eaten, tis the season! Included in the tally are Leona's Ice Cream sandwiches. With the number of flavors available, you might just beat my record. Pick up one, or a dozen (for "sharing" of course), in our deep freezer right inside the door of our Strip District store!
Sunny Walks
When the weather is nice, it's best to stay outside! Take a stroll down Penn and peruse all of the street vendors. Pop into a shop when you need a shot of air conditioning, and see how many blocks you can make it. Now is the time to appreciate our limited Pittsburgh sunshine!
