Ready or not, the holiday season is coming quick! Do these 5 things now to love your holiday season.
1. VOLUNTEER
This year, Kelly and her family fell in love with Nose 2 Tail, a 100% volunteer and donation run cat rescue organization. A tiny team works tirelessly to give the best care to rescued cats, from kittens to abandoned elderly felines. If you are a cat lover, head over to their website to learn how you can get involved: https://www.nose2tailcatrescue.org/
2. YINZER YULETIDE
From December 12-22, The Pittsburgh Public Theater is debuting Yinzer Yuletide, and hour-long variety show hosted by WQED’s Rick Sebak. The show will feature Pittsburgh performers, variety acts, and television segments about holiday lights around Pittsburgh neighborhoods. We will have a pop-up shop in the lobby, featuring holiday gifts. Included are the 12 fun exclusive ornaments created in partnership with local artists. For the kiddos, there will also be Breakfast With Santa. We will have a Santa’s Workshop set up, where children can holiday shop items that are all $10 and under. See yinz there!
3. HOST A HAPPY HOUR
We love everything about working with John and Candy at Steel City Salt. Several of their blends double as the perfect cocktail glass rim. Our favorites include Dill Pickle, Maple Jalapeno, and Lemon Lime. We reached out to our Mount Washington friends at The Summit, and they created these Steel City friendly cocktails that will be released in the new Salt Stack Gift Pack coming soon!
4. PACKAGE PRESENTATION PREP
What is your gift wrapping situation? Do you have a set up of paper, ribbons, cards, and trimmings? Or prefer to throw everything into a gift bag from the dollar store? May we suggest some fun ways to gift wrap with upcycling in mind? If you haven’t been to Center For Creative Reuse yet, GO! They have loads of donated gift wrap, cards, and ribbon. If you are feeling extra creative, explore their fabric, thread, and yarn for fun ways to present your gifts. Don’t want to leave your house? Let cereal boxes, catalogs and newsprint do the work for you. A little digging in your recycling stash can uncover all sorts of gift vessel options. Add a little paint or marker for a personalized touch. Finally, another fun idea is wrapping your gift in one of our tea towels. Happy gifting!
5. TREAT YOURSELF
Don’t forget to allow yourself a little pampering. You deserve it. How about a candlelit deep tub soak with an Arbor House soap, followed by a softening Lovett Sundries Hand cream? Turn off the lights, silent the night, and let yourself relax. Need more inspiration? Monica and Kelly love attending classes at South Hills Power Yoga to destress. 75 minutes in a heated yoga studio always does the trick. Our most favorite way to treat ourselves? Leona’s Ice Cream Sandwiches, of course!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE LOVE, PITTSBURGH FAMILY.
