]]>Pothos are a wonderful beginner houseplant. They are lovely if you are looking for a vining variety, and there are golden and verigated types. Drape them along a curtain rod to add some greenery to your living areas.
Another easy to maintain houseplant are philodendrons. We love the marbled type, which do well in low-light and need minimal watering every two weeks. Like the pothos, philodendrons love to climb.
We often get in Monstera adansonii or commonly known as the swiss cheese plant. This is a definite favorite among plant lovers. The heart-shaped leaves develop holes, which are called fenestrations. Trim it to add more width, it is easy to propogate from cuttings, and it can also ascend a trellis.
The above three types of houseplants are members of the Arum or Araceae plant family.
Often called Mother-in-law's tongue, which seems cruel, Sansevieria are so low-maintenance you can ignore them for months. The don't need a whole lot of love and thrive on neglet. Having low water and low light requirements, this is an ideal choice if you travel often and are away for long periods of time.
One of our favorite succulents, haworthias are hardy, low water, and bright light lovers. They do really well in vintage plant vessels, if you are careful not to over water.
Haworthia fasciata (zebra plant) begin to take on a tentacled sea monster appearrance when they get bigger due to their striated, long leaves branching from rosettes. However, they are minute in stature and you get a lot of little pups to share with friends. Haworthia are excellent if you have very limited space.
Peperomias are sub-tropical plants that love humidity and can be watered between 1-2 weeks when the soil is dry. The variety pictured is a watermelon peperomia, which has it's namesake's leaf pattern. A smart buy if you want to start your own terrarium.
We hope you find a new houseplant this season that you can enjoy for years to come!

The hardest part of the ordeal for me has always been living so far away from home. Just around a year and a half ago, all moved into my freshman dorm, I remember the harsh feeling of uncertainty overwhelming me as my parents waved their final goodbye as they began their adventure back to Pittsburgh, leaving me in this unfamiliar new world of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Although the adjustment took time, surrounding myself with reminders of my hometown made it so much easier.
Growing up in a city that bleeds black and gold prepared me very well for the greatness that is Alabama Football. Being raised by a family that made sure the Steelers game was broadcast on every TV throughout the house since I can remember, gave me the perfect segway into becoming a die-hard Crimson Tide fan in the past few years. Nothing ties my two homes together like cheering on #22 Najee Harris, who graduated from Alabama himself!
Sometimes, the best cure for feeling homesick comes from a yummy, steaming taste of home. For me, this comes in the form of fresh-cooked pierogies smothered in butter and onions. A Pittsburgh staple, they are the ultimate fix for when I need a dose of the Steel City. Kasia's Potato & Cheese is my go-to here in Alabama.
Moving hours away from home, I knew that the hunt for friends would not necessarily be a walk in the park. In hopes of easing the process, I took part in formal recruitment freshman year, (As TikTok has named it: #BAMARUSH) and became a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. As my new sisters turned into my best friends, I soon learned that many of us shared the same roots back to Pittsburgh. My friends have been my anchor, and I find comfort in knowing we are all on the same journey so far from home.
These bits and pieces of Pittsburgh that I have brought with me on my current adventure will continue to aid me in comfort as I unwrap what my future has in store.

It has been a few years since we opened a store, so of course it was bound to happen 😅. Joking aside, we had been dreaming up a brick and mortar vision for our love, brand for years. The stars aligned and our concept store came to fruition in May of 2023.
Located on Market Street by Market Square, love, stands as a reminder of self love to all those who shop the collection of exclusive merchandise we've developed specifically for our brand. The definition of a passion project, everything we put in the store passes the test of being loved by us first; from the heart adorned apparel (that I believe I own ALL of), to the personal fixtures and decor like Kelly's drum set and the portraits of our great grandmother's.
We invite you to visit and fall in love with love, like many of our customers do (with a giggle). Visit the love, website here.
When my alma mater inquired about featuring our locally curated gifts in their bookstore, it felt like a homecoming. Pitt recognized the need to offer more locally-sourced products to their students and their families, and invited us to partner with them. We gladly accepted, and in late July of 2023 we were thrilled to be featured in the front of their newly renovated University Store on Fifth with a dedicated branded space and the ability to tell our story and the story of featured artists.
We are so excited to continue to stock the best local gifts in a new Pittsburgh neighborhood serving the locals and students in the Oakland area.
The greatest news ever came when our Mount Washington and Downtown store manager, Jen, shared that she is expecting a baby girl in January 2024. This is our first team member to bring a little one into the world, and we couldn't resist the chance to throw a surprise shower. We know her "nebby newbie" will be the cutest babe to sport the onesie created from Jen's own clever phrase. Be sure to congratulate her next time you see her in Mount Washington!
After Strip District store manager Amber shared her daughter Kaylee's painting of “Evil” Peppa Pig with us, we knew we had found our featured gallery crawl artist. In Kaylee's First Art Show, she showcased original works of acrylic on canvas as well as small clay sculptures for entry-level collectors. Her works were praised by gallery crawlers and many sold that night. However, the painting that inspired it all did not find a buyer that night - the price of "one hundred million-trillion" dollars was a bit too steep, and Kaylee gets to continue to treasure her art at home.
Read more about Kaylee's art show and you might run into her in the Strip on a day that hard-working Amber is there. Kaylee is skilled at selling chocolate!
We truly have the most wonderful team. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the many talents, kindness, and joy each one brings both behind the scenes and out on the shop floors. Every person has a super power, and each team member shines brightest when showcasing their strengths. Just a few examples: Sam has a strong creative muscle, seen in our dreamy Snow Drift holiday windows. Many gorgeous product photos were taken in our Strip District location by Kristen. It's magical to experience members like Aysan, Mary, Laura, and Nicole connect with customers through their generous curiosity and kindness. Do you have a memory you would like to share about our team?

Amber's family tradition is to have a meal of sauerkraut and kielbasa with pierogis as their New Year’s dinner. It is just the right comfort food for welcoming the winter ahead.
When Monica was growing up every year her dad would cook pork and sauerkraut as eating it is said to give you good luck for the next year. His specialty was kielbasa slow cooked in sauerkraut, and she hated sauerkraut! She would eat just a tiny sliver of cabbage with the kielbasa to get her good luck covered for the year.
Kelly S loves taking a long solo walk on New Year’s Day to reflect on the previous year, and set intentions for the year to come.
Amber's family also enjoys a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood and the community park nearby. Maybe she can even get her teenager to join along this year :)
Monica likes to set an intention for the year by picking a word or mantra. The word is something that she wants to embody and welcome into her life. She's started just a couple years ago and has had experiences where the word she chose was manifested throughout the year. Try it this year, you can share your mantra or keep it to yourself, whatever feels right to you.
Kelly Y celebrates with a New Years pretzel. Which is actually like a breakfast danish not a typical pretzel. It’s supposed to bring good luck. Her family also believed you should tear your piece off rather than cut it.
Kelly Y also bang pots and pans outside at midnight! Monica and Amber grew up doing this together at Amber's parent's house. Hearing the neighbors join in is always a great memory.

It is a memorable way to celebrate the holiday season in both the hunt for the perfect gift, and the surprise of receiving something from your Secret Santa. In my opinion the fun is in the giving, knowing that you've created a special surprise for someone is priceless.
*Enter gifting experts!*
For years we have been helping folks find Secret Santa gifts that their recipients will love! Let us help you navigate the unique challenges of finding that special Secret Santa gift.
Unlike the popular White Elephant gift exchange, in a Secret Santa you know who will be receiving your present. This gives you the opportunity to consider their interest and learn more about them. Perhaps they love to cook, or never miss a Steeler's home tailgate, or love to stroll the trails of Frick Park. Gifts that compliment the parts of their life they most love are a sure bet.
We love recommending food-forward gifts as they are so versatile and consumable.

The beauty of spalted wood shines via the hand turning process used to create this sculptural vase, pretty to stand on display on its own or with a wisp of dried flora.
If it's hard to pin down the interests of your giftee, it's best to go with a gift they will enjoy using. Plus, they get to think of you each time they enjoy their gift. Our go-to categories are gifts for their home, work, and fun.

Easy to pack is key (this goes for both luggage AND shipping gifts.) Tea towels, coffee, tea, and travel candles are popular gifts.
Sweet treats are also frequently gifted. Chocolate bars, Oreo Snowmen, and Peppermint Bark are seasonal faves. Multiples work well as stocking stuffers and gift toppers.
Our ornament selection is outstanding, and a nice reminder of Pittsburgh during the annual tree-trimming.
Sometimes a co-worker catches your eye. Use the holidays as an excuse to show a little love.
Pairing our best-selling camper mug with a rich hot cocoa spoon is a subtle way to "warm up" to your cubicle mate.
Notebooks and pens show you are dedicated to the work, and your water cooler pal.
Our exclusive Salt Stack Gift Pack with drink recipes can kick-start an office happy hour tradition.
We all know someone who eats, sleeps, and bleeds black and gold. For the true yinzer in your life, may we suggest:
Being direct with a Yinzer keychain, magnet, or pin.
The Pittsburghese book, to help them explain their vernacular to the unknowing.
Our mug 4-pack, for beginning each day in a most yinzer way.
